Black Chicken Soup, Turtle Soup, Pork Belly Soup…his menu never repeats . Therefore, the Black Shield Team is always full of energy . It’s all because Cold Face is feeding them well!

And therefore, when these many talents are found in a man and he’s still single and is not good at conversing, what reasons are there to stop him from becoming the most popular guy among women?!

The female offices looked at each other . They then chuckled and surrounded him, “You’re the famous Teacher Cold Face? We’re your fans! We’re very interested in the Black Shield Team and are thinking of taking the test next year . Teacher Cold Face, can you give us some pointers?”

If it were any other man (not including Han Chen), they would be floating above ground when facing these pretty female officers . But Cold Face……

He frowned his eyebrows slightly, picked up the documents he needed, and avoided eye contact with them by looking down .

“No,” he turned around and left .

The female officers were struck dumb, “……”

Han Chen and Cold Face obviously won’t participate in such a boring topic . Xiao Zhuan and Su Mian will naturally be excited about it .

Xiao Zhuan thinks hard and shakes his head, “I don’t know either! I don’t really know this sort of thing……”

Su Mian, on the other hand, acts like she’s a pro and sighs, “He doesn’t like those pretty and cute girls . He doesn’t like those cold and sexy girls either . From the looks of it, Cold Face must like weirdos . ”

It’s a very ordinary and peaceful day . The only slight turbulence is probably Cold Face’s arm getting cut by a knife while catching a criminal . And therefore, in this sunny and quiet afternoon, he knocks on the door of the medical office room .

The medical office has a faint sterile smell . But it also has an even fainter smell of freshness; like flowers and grass .

He looks down and sees a very small plant on the desk . There is also a small fishbowl with a very small goldfish swimming around in it . In this serious police station filled with the aura of manliness, seeing these decorations suddenly makes one feel calm and soothing .

“Wait a sec! I’ll be out once I’m done washing my face!” a female voice says crisply from inside .

That voice actually sounds very nice .

Cold Face takes a peek through the muslin curtains and then sits down on a chair . Information about the doctor floats across his mind; he seems to have heard Chatterbox and the others talk about her; something about a new intern doctor has come working at the medical office and that she is quite pretty and don’t have a boyfriend .

He didn’t pay too much attention to the other details .

After he waits for a while, the curtains are flipped open and someone walks out from them . Cold Face raises his head to look .

……

Xiao Zhuan feels that Cold Face has been acting weird in these couple of days . Why is he going to the medical office every day at noon? Didn’t he only get a cut on his arm? When he was stabbed with a knife by Xu Nan Bai last time, he didn’t visit the medical office that often . Could it be that his wound is more serious than it looks?

With that thought in mind, Xiao Zhuan shows his care as the team eats dinner together, “Cold Face, why are you going to the medical office so many times recently? Is it because your wound has not recovered yet?”

Just when he finishes, everybody lifts their heads to look at Cold Face .

Cold Face takes a sip of his soup and says calmly, “No . I’m pursuing someone . ”

“Pfft!” “Pfft!” “Pfft!”……Xiao Zhuan, Chatterbox, and Su Mian spurt out the soup in their mouths . Han Chen also lifts his eyes to look at Cold Face .

“Pursuing someone?” Chatterbox asks in disbelief, “It’s not what we think it is, is it?”

Cold Face doesn’t bother answering such nonsense question, so he continues drinking his soup .

Everyone at the table is a top-notch investigator nonetheless, so they connect the dots instantly .

Chatterbox says, “You’re pursuing the doctor? Holy shit!! She’s very popular, you know?! I want to pursue her too!”

Cold Face raises his head and glances at him, “Give it up . ”

Chatterbox is speechless, “You!!!”

Xiao Zhuan says, “Ahhhh! I like that doctor girl a lot . Cold Face, you have such good taste . ”

Cold Face smiles . Han Chen doesn’t comment; he pats his shoulder to express his support .

A woman reacts slower than men when it comes to these things . Su Mian thinks for a moment and finally remembers who the doctor girl is . She slaps her thigh and says, “Holy shit! Cold Face, you actually like that kind of soft and cute women?!”

Cold Face lowers his head and lights up a cigarette . He smiles faintly, “I do indeed like that soft and cute kind of women . ”

Mini Side Story: Heartless Cold Face Part 2

And then on one bright afternoon……

“What did you say? Doctor Xia absolutely does not like the kind of men like Cold Face?”

Zhou Xiao Zhuan jaws drop from shock . Su Mian spreads her arms out helplessly, “What can I do? It’s what she said . A few others in the medical office heard it too . ”

They both secretly look toward Cold Face .

Big Brother Cold Face is sitting by the window . His cold and fair white side profile is manly and gentle . He tilts his head to light up a cigarette and doesn’t comment . Chatterbox starts blabbering, “That little girl says she doesn’t like Cold Face? How can she possibly not like Cold Face? Cold Face is the most popular man in the whole police station . He’s miles ahead of me and Xiao Zhuan! How could there be someone who doesn’t like him?!” He talks out loud with an angry expression on his face but it’s obvious that he’s making fun .

Xiao Zhuan, who’s also “not a popular man,” is pleased inside hearing his words: this is too childish and a little overboard!

Su Mian is in battle mode to help Cold Face fight for his love . She leans against Cold Face’s table full of worry, “Big Brother Cold Face, what should we do now? Why don’t I lure her to our office and you l… . . ”

Before she could finish, Han Chen presses down on her head, “What rotten idea are you coming up with?”

Su Mian responds, “What about it?… . . ”

“What you don’t want to be done to you, don’t do to others (idiom),” Han Chen says indifferently, clearly hinting something . In others eyes, he’s cool and handsome looking and carries a sense of responsibility . But Su Mian understands him right away and her face blushes .

She indeed did not have the “appetite” last night, but he still “did it”! F–k!

The other four are chit-chatting while Cold Face, the subject of discussion, continues smoking with his head down . Without saying anything, he gets up and leaves .

The medical office is in another building . The sun is shining quietly at this hour and there aren’t a lot of people around . Doctor Xia is on the second floor . There are a couple of small plants on the balcony and the wind is blowing on the curtains lightly .

Cold Face is standing below, smoking while leaning against the lamp post . After a while, he spots the cute and soft girl of his wearing a white coat walking out of the office . She’s holding her chin with her fingers and looking far away like she’s staring into nothingness out of boredom .

Cold Face continues smoking like this . His usual expressionless face finally shows a bit of disappointment .

She doesn’t like him?

Why?

The long-awaited feeling of interest; does it have to end before it begins?

The last time he felt this way, it lasted three years before he was dumped . This time, he hasn’t even started and it’s over……

The medical office at the police station is actually not busy at all . It’s early in the morning and Xia Zi Qi has nothing to do . She feeds her goldfish, water the plants, and then walks around on the balcony .

She’s just carelessly wandering until she lifts her head and sees a familiar figure down below .

Although everybody calls him Cold Face, even the lady at the cafeteria would greet him cheerfully, “Cold Face, you’re here,” Xia Zi Qi remembers his actual name well . It’s because his name is just like him; it makes one’s heart beat fast in panic from just one look .

The best kind of love in the world is one where both individuals are in love with each other and understand each other . But if he doesn’t take action and she doesn’t have the confidence, this relationship will be destined to be bittersweet .

Xia Zi Qi stands there quietly and pretends that she doesn’t see him . But she can’t stop looking at him from the corner of her eye . After a few minutes, she sees him toss the cigarette to the ground suddenly and steps on it .

And then……

He’s coming toward the medical office .

Xia Zi Qi runs inside quickly . She takes a big drink of water and pats her burning face with her hands . She steadies her breathing and pretends to be calm and composed .

Cold Face knocks on the door, comes in and sees this . The office is quiet, clean, and warm; just like her . She’s sitting behind the desk . Her features are refined and pretty .

Cold Face’s heart pounds quietly without anybody knowing .

A certain thought is becoming more firm and clear:

She wants him to give up?

It won’t be that easy .

The atmosphere seems to be filled with uneasiness and anxiousness .

Cold Face sits down in front of her desk .

Xia Zi Qi’s eyes are glued to the medical book in front of her, not daring to look into his eyes . It’s because his gaze is blazing, and it always makes her feel uncomfortable .

“Your wound is already fully recovered, so you don’t have to come anymore,” she says .

She’s all down to business . Cold Face feels his heart being hurt again . After a moment, he answers, “The wound feels a bit uncomfortable today, can you take a look at it again?”

Cold Face seldom acts like a scoundrel . But probably because he’s been around Han Chen for too long, so he admits that he’s been influenced by him……

“Oh, take off your shirt then,” Xia Zi Qi says indifferently while feeling a bit disappointed inside——it turns out that he’s only here because his wound feels uncomfortable .

“What kind of discomfort are you feeling?” she asks him seriously .

Cold Face can’t find an answer to that . He remains quiet for a few seconds and then replies slowly, “Itchiness . A bit of pain and fidgety . ”

Mini Side Story: Heartless Cold Face Part 3

“Itchiness . A bit of pain and fidgety,” the moment Cold Face finishes, Xia Zi Qi loses her concentration .

The office is quiet . In the spacious room, there are only the two of them . His jacket is lowered half-way and the reddish colored wound is like an eclipse on his shoulder . His skin color is of Xia Zi Qi’s favorite kind: slightly tanned; most probably due to long periods of training, it’s also firm and strong . And especially when looking at his shoulders and back, you can tell that this man’s body is……

Not buff yet wild .

Just like every time she checks his wound, the view is too exceptional; it’s becoming more and more intense lately . Due to the visual shock, Xia Zi Qi didn’t listen to what he said clearly, but she’s too embarrassed to ask him again . Therefore, she lets out an “Mm,” and answers, “I’ll prescribe you some more medicine then . ”

Cold Face responds, “……Okay . ”

There’s a bit of turbulence in the man’s heart . A voice says: she indeed does not have him in her heart . “We’ll see each other again, Xia Zi Qi . ”

Right after he leaves, she wants to bang her head on her desk: I’m done for, I’m done for! He must be thinking that she was brushing him off by giving him vitamin and protein powder . Su Mian replies, “Oh, okay . ” Just when she is about to hang up, she realizes something, “Wait!”

“What is it?”

Su Mian says with a bit of disbelief, “Why would your dad not have money?”

She braces herself as if she’s about to go up against her strongest opponent——could it be that Han Chen has really spent away all of Han Family’s money? Oh shit!

Han Chen, on the other end, remains quiet for a moment and then laughs answering, “Although my dad is in a high position and doesn’t need to worry about money and my family’s financial situation is not bad, with my dad not being greedy and don’t accept bribery, his income at most is enough for the family to be well-off . For an inkstone that’s about a couple hundred thousands of dollars, it’s not that easy for him to shell out so much money and he won’t be willing to . ”

Su Mian’s jaws drop, “Hah! Then where does……your money come from?”

Han Chen keeps quiet for a second and then says slowly:

“Did you always think that I’ve been eating off of someone else?”

After Han Chen comes home tonight, he tosses her his account details which contains all of his money . Su Mian is a bit excited as she’s about to take a peek at her own man’s fortune . She logs onto the online banking website and her eyes open wide .

Although he’s not wealthy to the point of being a rich man, it’s enough for him to spend for the rest of his life .

Su Mian is a bit shocked yet understands at the same time, “Could it be that those who are good at math will also do well in investing in stocks?”

Han Chen embraces her and says indifferently, “When I was in high school, the stock market was doing really well, so I made quite a bit . And then when I was in university, I used my relative’s accounts and made double . I don’t do it anymore since I’ve made enough . My regular spending isn’t that much, so if you want to buy anything, just decide on your own . ”

Su Mian wraps her arms around him, “Hubby, you actually have this much money! I’m truly a blind cat who bumped into a mouse!” (idiom, being lucky)

What kind of metaphor is this……

Han Chen remains quiet for a moment before laughing, “You think this is a lot of money?” He glances at her, “The Han Family has a long history .
