Chapter 2: Thunder Scorpion

Within the ravine, Zhong Shan was currently fighting furiously, although he could not take care the large amount of scorpions within a short period of time, the scorpions however were not uncountable.

Harvesting the Thunder Flower have to be delayed, however, the scorpions are such excellent training partners that are hard to come by.

The scorpions’ strength is not too strong, he could handle most of them by himself, occasionally there was one that had similar strength with Tian Ling Er.

However, under Zhong Shan and Tian Ling Er’s cooperation, they could take care of it.  

Zhong Shan could tell that the stronger ones were the ones surrounding both side of the Thunder Flower, the scorpions there should be the strongest, but it does not matter as they have to eliminate all the low leveled scorpions before strategizing on how to deal with it.

While the group of people from Yin Yue Imperial court were flying down towards the ravine, they heard some clashes of a battle.

All of them were frowning as it did not occur to them that there were some early birds trying to catch the worms1.

They descended quickly and saw two people who have not even managed to reach the Gold Core, one of them was a violent man with the cultivation of the fourth level of Xian Tian, while the other was an ugly lady with the cultivation of the tenth level of Xian Tian.

Once they saw that the two Thunder Flowers still intact in the distance, they were relived. As long as the Thunder Flowers were still there, it was all good.

Mr Shi who was stepping on the flying sword, flying at the back almost had his eyes popped out when he saw Zhong Shan and Tian Ling Er flying on her red silk. It’s actually them?

Although Tian Ling Er has some make up on, Mr Shi could roughly distinguish the magical red silk belonged to the two people who had disturbed him not too long ago.

His eye flashed with a sliver of killing intent, but then his expression began to change as he pondered over some matter as looked oddly at the machete wielding Zhong Shan.

As he stared at Zhong Shan, the look in Mr Shi changed gradually, there was a little curiosity and expectation mixed together, but Mr Shi concealed it perfectly, not leaking any traces, maintaining his normal expression.

“Ha Ha, Your Majesty, it’s only two small ants.” The armored general Lei Ting chuckled.

While Zhong Shan was killing the scorpions, there was a boorish laughter that came from the top. Once Zhong Shan heard it, the hairs on his body tensed up, the situation was not good.

Zhong Shan quickly retreated towards the walls of the ravine, not killing the scorpions.

Tian Ling Er also seemed to realized that the people that flew in from the sky were too formidable, and flew quickly towards Zhong Shan, seemingly trying to ensure Zhong Shan’s safety.

The large number of scorpions did not pursue Zhong Shan, rather within a short period of time, each of them prostrate on the ground as if there were some force suppressing them and rendering them unable to move.

Once Zhong Shan retreated to the edge of the ravine, he could see the group of people. When he took a look at the group, he was startled, acquaintances, it was really acquaintances and also a group of acquaintances with abnormal strength.

Even if he excluded those Nascent Soul experts, there was still the weird Mr Shi who could control those Jiang Shi2, and Zhong Shan did not foiled his plans twice but thrice. How is it them? Why is it them?

As Zhong Shan was surprised, all he thought about was that he had to get away, he must run and hoped that these people would not bothered with an insignificant thing like him.

“Run” Zhong Shan whispered towards Tian Ling Er as he raced away from the group of people, trying to climb his way out of the ravine.

“Bang” A powerful sword energy flew towards the walls of the ravine that Zhong Shan was climbing, shattering it and bringing Zhong Shan down with it.

While mid-air, Zhong Shan initially could twist his body to avoid the blast and step onto the shattered rocks to push himself upwards and continue climbing. However, Zhong Shan did not and he even grabbed onto Tian Ling Er, preventing her from flying upwards.

Two of them fell downwards together, buried beneath the rubble.

At that moment, it was impossible to continue to try to escape. He had to fake his death.

That sword energy seemed to stabbed through his body, needless to say, Zhong Shan and Tian Ling Er would die if it passes through them. What now? He could only put on an act and play dead.

Tian Ling Er was grabbed by Zhong Shan and held in his embrace, then they were buried by numerous rocks. Tian Ling Er wanted to move, but Zhong Shan was hugging her tightly and gave her a look that told her to stay put. Although Tian Ling Er was not hurt, she did not attempt to move.

Tian Ling Er knew that the group of people were formidable, facing these group of people, she had to listen to Zhong Shan. Tian Ling Er was extremely tense as she could feel death approaching her, but Zhong Shan embrace seemed to have given her a large support.

That ray of Sword Energy was released by Lei Ting. In Lei Ting’s opinion killing these two people was too easy, and he preferred using the cat and mouse method to toy with them. However, these two people did not have the courage? Both of them were buried by the rocks?

Mr Shi eyed coldly at the area where Zhong was at, not saying a single word as if pondering over some matter and was trying to see if the couple in the distance could managed to escape.

The Emperor glanced at the couple and could tell that they were simply playing dead. Frowning at them, because they were no ordinary people as they were able to make the right decision in regards to the current circumstance within a short time.

The two people in front of him managed to do it, but so what, their strengths were too low.

The Emperor merely looked at them, then looked towards the Thunder Flower.

“Yes, it has matured and are also, top-grade ones.” The people behind the Emperor laughed in exhilaration.

Once someone muttered that phrase, Lei Ting abruptly turned his attention towards the Thunder Flower, after all no matter how much he like toying with them, it could not be compared with obtaining the Thunder Flower, especially if they were dead ones.

Lei Ting flew over quickly to the south side of the ravine, looking at the huge Thunder Flower and reached out his hands to grab them.

“Be careful General, the Thunder Flower grew on the egg of a Thunder scorpion, hence when you pick the Thunder Flower, you will also alarm the thunder scorpion.” Mr Shi warned quickly.

“Eh? This is a Thunder Scorpion?” The Emperor exclaimed in shock. Lei Ting’s hand also stopped abruptly midway as he heard it.

Nodding his head, Mr Shi spoke, “Thunder Flower grows in areas rich with Thunder, however these Thunder Flower grew upon the egg of a Thunder Scorpion, though it is rare to see such cases. Your subordinate has seen such a case before, normally the cultivation of the Thunder Scorpion would be at least at Nascent Soul. The roots of the Thunder Scorpion have reached deep into the egg, once it is pulled out, the thunder energy would start to leak out and arouse the Thunder Scorpion. Once the Thunder Scorpion emerged, it will begin to attack any foreign creatures that are not a scorpion.”

“Now that Mr Shi mentioned it, I seemed to heard about it before. The egg of the Thunder Scorpion is extremely peculiar, when it comes into contact with any other living creatures, it is able to use them to block cracks in its own shells.” Lei Ting exclaimed.

“Indeed” Mr Shi nodded in agreement.

“Let me try it out” Lei Ting chuckled.

The Thunder Flower had four roots edged into the shell of the Thunder Scorpion, Lei Ting gently pulled one of its roots out when a large amount of Thunder Energy started to spill out from within the shell, lightning was continuously spilling out form the hole and it was as if it was trying to tear the hole wider apart.

Lei Ting used his palms and gently pressed down, sealing the hole. The hole also seemed to fuse itself to Lei Ting’s hand and there was not a single crack, not spilling out any lightning.

“Damn it, how is it so numbing? It is truly comfortable.” Lei Ting shouted refreshingly.

The Emperor and people around him all exposed a curious expression.

“Let me try it.” Another person said, it was evident that he was extremely curious.

However, there were two people making their way down instead of one.

“Put your hand here.” Lei Ting said.

As they reached out, Lei Ting pulled away his hands from the spot and when one of their hands pressed down on the spot, it immediately began to fuse with the egg, sealing the hole.

Taking this opportunity, Lei Ting swiftly pulled out all the three roots. The two guys then immediately placed their palms onto the holes to block it.

There were four holes and on top of them were four hands pressing down, Lei Ting looked at the Thunder Flower held in his hands and kept it in his storage rings with a flick.

“Damn you, Lei Ting, you punk! How dare u trick me, how is this comfortable.” The guy who came first shouted.

“Ha ha ha, you deserved it!” Lei Ting laughed.

“Mr Shi, what solution do we have now? Is there any other method that we can use to seal it?” The Emperor asked.

“To the best of my knowledge, no, we can only release it and once General Lei Ting has retrieved the other Thunder Flower, we should quickly escape.” Mr Shi said.

“No way, no way, this is my first time seeing a Thunder Scorpion, I have to see what it looks like. Let each and every one of us take a good look, it is only a Nascent Soul creature and there are so many of us, we can take the other Thunder Flower later.” General Lei Ting immediately interrupted Mr Shi.

The Emperor seemed to have some intention but did nothing to stop them.

“Okay, you can let go of it and retreat quickly.” Lei Ting ordered.

“En” The two of them nodded and retreated quickly.

As they retreated, the holes suddenly became bigger and a large amount of lightning was shooting out, striking those scorpions laying on the ground. The scorpions were trembling and there were even some that leapt up when strike by the lightning.

After two breaths, the four holes began to intersect, forming a larger hole, causing a greater amount of lightning to pour out, spilling onto the floor of the ravine and making it seem that there was a layer of lightning on the floor.

The scorpions were all strike by the lightning till they were all dizzy, trembling uncontrollably.

Even the buried Zhong Shan and Tian Ling Er’s hairs were standing, thankfully the lightning receded as quickly as it came as the lightning within the Thunder Scorpion egg became lesser.

A huge scorpion crawled out quickly from the interior of the egg.

The scorpion was blue in color, excluding its tail, it was already thirty meters long and its tail seemed to be able to reach the top of the ravine.

The body of the Thunder Scorpion was covered in a large amount of lightning as if it was angry that someone dared to woke it from its slumber, in addition its tails also emitting crackling sound with purple lightning jumping about at the needle-like tip of its tails.

With its cold eyes, it was staring at everyone in the ravine.
