Then the door closed and almost hit my nose.

I heard Shu Zhe's voice: “Sis, why didn't you let bro Ye Lin come in for a bit?”

The class leader hesitated then said: “Not today.”

I wanted to stay a bit to eavesdrop, but it felt like the class leader looked through the peephole to see if I left. I reluctantly walked down the stairs in order to not make a fool of myself.
