CHAPTER 10 Part 3 Translator:Masakibluei
Even though the day has turned into night time,  the temperature outside is not chilly. Because of this, I spend my time with ease despite wearing a dress with an open shoulder.  
The flowers in the backyard are beautiful. Even for a schoolyard, it looks like it has been taken care of by a professional gardener. Besides the white fountain and the multi-colored flowers, there is an adequate amount of outdoor lamps.
‘When I get back home, shall I remodel our garden together with Mom?' I wonder to myself. 
----------------------BONG
Nanari: “Hm?”
From behind, a sound of familiar summoning magic can be heard.
Nanari: “………?”
I turn around to check it out.
“E……”
For some unknown reason, Lockman is standing right behind me. When did he come? 
With a glass on his hand, he looks at me with a sullen expression.
………What is he so mad about? Just a moment ago, he was dancing happily with the girls. Did something happen to him? Moreover, what is he doing at this place?
Oh yeah, just a moment ago, I heard the sound of familiar summoning magic. Was that Lockman's?
Nanari: “Did you call for Yuri a moment ago?”
Lockman: “………No, I didn't.”
Lockman sullenly replied my question.
Then what was that sound? ………Oh well, never mind.
Lockman: “Why are you here…” Nanari: “What? Then why are you here as well? You were dancing happily just a while ago.”
I am sitting by the edge of the fountain, facing Lockman who does not move at all from where he is standing. Even though we were sitting next to each other for the past 6 years, we did not have many decent conversations. Our decent conversations can be counted with both hands. When I think that we are going to graduate soon, somehow I start to get sentimental.
These past 6 years, I have been desperately working hard to get the 1st place. Despite of my attempts, Lockman has continued to reign at the top. Those times seemed pretty long, but actually, it was pretty short.
When Lockman emitted some flame, I froze it and when I released ice, Lockman melted it. When I think back about it, there is no objection that we were good rivals to each other.
Nowadays, we only quarrel with our mouth, we do not clash with our magic anymore. In a good meaning, it seems that both of us have grown up already. However, for just a little bit. I feel a little bit disappointed. Besides, Lockman does not call me ‘you' anymore. He did sometimes call me ‘Ice Lady' when we quarreled, but his tone was much more polite than before.
(masakibluei note: Lockman used to call Nanari ‘Omae' which means you in Japanese. Calling people ‘Omae' is considered rude in Japan. I don't know what is impolite word for ‘you' in English. Let me know in the comment section!)
Because of this, I also spoke to him politely when we did not have any fight. I also did not use any manly verbal expression anymore. Instead, I become used to talk in a more feminine manner.
This change is probably caused by my enmity towards him.
Why did he suddenly become more mature like that? In a sense, I hate to feel like I was being left behind by him. It's like he was trying to grow up alone.
Nanari: “? It's smelly. Somehow it's smelled like perfume.”
Lockman: “It must be me.”
Nanari: “You were surrounded by the girls before. You probably got it from them.”
The smell which is drifting around seems like an artificial smell. It is different from the smell of grass or flowers. The smell starts to drift around after Lockman came. Perhaps this is the perfume smell of the girls who were swarming around him.
Lockman: “………Speaking of which, you don't call me ‘Stupid Flame' anymore.”
While he said that, he has been rubbing his jaw and other part of his body. Perhaps he did so because I called him smelly. His attitude seems childish to me.
Nanari: “What the hell. Don't you stop calling me ‘Stupid Ice' anymore too?”
Undauntedly, I retorted his comment back.
Lockman said ‘I see' and starts to laugh ominously. Then step by step, he comes closer to me.
Is he trying to attack me? As a result, I make a fighting pose with both of my hands.
Lockman: “That's right. Will you fight against me?”
Nanari: “Ye, yes?”
Lockman: “Magic……”
Before Lockman finishes his speech, my body is parted away from the edge of the fountain and floated in the air. The skirt of my dress is fluttering like a curtain blown by the wind. The glass which Lockman was holding before is released from his hand and is also floating to the night sky.
When I was still considering asking him what is he doing, suddenly he said a word which I have not heard for quite a while, ‘a match'. Even though I had prepared myself to have a match with him, he said it so smoothly which makes me feel at loss. In the end, I forgot my intention to complain about why he cast a floating magic on me.
Lockman: “I heard that you are bad at dancing. But if you float, it won't be a problem, right.”
Nanari: “Dancing?”
Lockman: “Do you want to keep losing to me? Generally speaking, whether it's grades or other things, you lose to me. On top of that, you are also a terrible dancer. “
Is he………trying to start a fight with me? HE IS. Saying that I'm okay to keep losing to him is the same as digging at my wounds.
Nanari: “So the match will be dancing? Or magic?”
Lockman: “Dancing.”
Nanari: “How?”
Lockman: “I will dance with you to see if you are good or bad.”
The music from the ballroom can be heard here, in the garden.
Lockman:” This is the last music.”
Nanari: “Is that so?”
Suddenly Lockman straighten his posture and then he puts one of his hand to his back and lightly bows while letting the other hand stretches out to me.
Lockman: “Dear beautiful ice witch, may I have this dance?”
While I am blinking in confusion over his action, he raises his head and smiles gently at me.
Nanari: “…………!”
I have never seen him like this before. Even though I am floating in the air at the moment, it makes me spontaneously take a step back. Other nobles would probably have seen him like this before. What is the reason behind his action now?
But what should I do with his hand? I timidly raise my right hand.
Lockman: “Put your hand on mine.” Nanari: “My hand…”
When I raise my hand and put it on his hand, our finger would definitely entangle with each other. Which such a thought, I feel embarrassed.
Lockman: “Put your other hand on my shoulder.” Nanari: “B,but…” Lockman: “It's fine.”
Suddenly, he pulls my waist and makes me twirl a full turn. Subsequently, the pale green dress is inevitably fluttered by the night breeze. His back feels warm at the touch of my hand. I unconsciously let out a sigh.
Just a moment later, he whispers calmly into my ear, 'put your right foot out.' Then without a second thought, I put my right foot out just like what he said. As I follow his guidance, we are facing each other face to face and dancing by the fountain.
It's smooth but slow. It feels like we are dancing freely in the ballroom.
However, as I think it through, I'm actually not dancing by my own means. When Lockman suddenly lifts my hand up, he makes me spin around easily. Whether I am good or bad at dancing, it is not a problem at all.
Well, I'm not really sure about it.
When I think that his hand is placed on my waist, he suddenly moves his hand and passes it under my arm. My feet which are unable to touch the ground, are lightly drifting on the air.
Nanari: “………”
Stars seem like falling from the starry night sky. Although I do not need to worry about tripping because I am floating in the air, for an unknown reason, I don't want to look at the front or up, I just want to keep looking down.  To be honest, I don't know where to look at. When I try to open my mouth to talk, I become hesitant to do so because somehow the mood is not the same as usual.
Furthermore, each time I come close to Lockman, his blonde hair strokes my cheeks. I try to avoid the contact because it is embarrassing. However, it is impossible due to the close distance between us. It's unusual for us to be this close in the first place. Then I come to remember that we never been this close before.
Lockman: “Do you have something in your mind?”
His face comes really close to me. His lips are slightly loosed and his almond eyes are gently looking at me.  I see. Are nobles always dancing so closely like this?
It's shameful.
Nanari: “He, u, un. I just think about graduation a little bit.” Lockman: “You are certainly going to Hare, right. ” Nanari: “After graduation, we won't be able to meet with everyone easily.” Lockman: “About that……That's not true. When you think about it, we are still living in the same country and under the same sky.” Nanari: “Is that so.”
Surprise and surprise.
I'm surprised at the fact that I was able to have a decent conversation with Lockman. During our conversation, he did not call me improperly and he also did not invoke a fight with me.
Lockman: “Even if we cannot meet for a year, 5 years or 10 years, the fact that we had spent our time here won't change at all.”
Then, he skillfully twirls me around again. Incidentally, I realize that the small white flower which was on my hair has moved onto Lockman's golden hair. It looks funny and I laugh at it. When he sees me laughing like that, he immediately brings his head closer right in front of my eyes. Instantly, a mild smell that is not the same smell as the girl's perfume comes passing my nose and my throat.
Nanari: “It hurts!”
Lockman: “I don't like being laugh at.”
Suddenly he headbutted me with his forehead. I was so careless. I forgot that he is this kind of person!
Nanari: “Before I die, I'll beat you once!”
Lockman: “Yeah, right. I'll think about it when I become an old man.”
Nanari: “I will beat you before I become a grandma!!”

This year as well, I do not get the 1st place. I stuck as 2nd place.
When I see the end result, I don't feel really frustrated. Instead, I feel that if the outcome is the opposite, it would be weird. I've been competing for the 1st place for so many years, but this time I feel the calmest over the result. This year as well, the one who got the 1st place is Lockman again.
