Death's Scythe Chapter 34: [ Train#1 ]

Ground element was mostly focused towards defense , whether it be in magic , gifts or physique . The monsters in the ' Subway ' were almost entirely made of stone . Or at least their outer skin was .

As soon as Leo stepped into the ' Subway ' covered in vines he saw the first ' Train ' sinking into the hard ground . He thought the ground was quicksand , but realized that this was train held a total of 3000 monsters . Holding such weight , it was already a miracle that it hadn't completely broken .

Leo stepped into the train , and Leah entered behind him . He thought it was nothing but a common train compartment , connected to the other compartments . Just as he was about to take another step , he felt his feet had gotten heavy . He could not lift his feet up and slowly , his whole body felt the pressure .

' Leah ' The thought of his sister crossed his mind , and with much difficulty , he turned his head around to look at her , but found her completely unaffected .

' I helped her out .' He heard Luna's voice and noticed she was sitting on Leah's shoulder .

He smiled as he suddenly felt a headache . He closed his eyes and held his head , as he got the feeling of being in the middle of air . This feeling only lasted for a fraction of a second and soon was replaced by the feeling of his knees on the ground .

" What happened , brother ?" Leah noticed him on the ground with both his knees bent , as if someone pushed him and quickly helped him stand up .

Leo simply smiled at her after standing up but said nothing . ' What was that huge pressure , and that feeling ? ' He thought in his heart as he looked around .

Leo received unexpected help from the sister and was surprised . It had been a long time since he remembered he had this system . Perhaps even the system couldn't bear getting ignored , so it answered a question out of nowhere .

He looked around only to find the damned train had increased in size . It was now as wide as a football field and as long as a highway road .

Leo took in a deep breath and said in a low voice " Will you choose first , or do I ?"

Leah looked at him as the little kitten on her shoulder jumped on Leo's and said " Right ."

" Left it is , then . Kill everything in your right . " He smiled as he kicked the ground and left Leah at the spot they were standing .

Stone Drakes . Lizards , can reach a height of 1 meter when on ground , have a fast speed , and have a skin that is stronger than most stones .

These were the monsters on the 1st train . They ran at an extremely fast speed , which was almost higher than Leo's speed . They directly ran towards Leo , who required at least 2 punches to kill them . Kicks work too , but still , he required 2 .

Leo tried everything as he slowly killed all these stone drakes in his way . They had blood , which means they were still just animals covered in a layer of stones . Regardless , they were immune to Leo's lightning , as ground attributed creature should be and even had a resistance to his flames.

All leo could do was use [Fear] and punch them , which was extremely useless . He was not as good with his body as he though . He could barely kill them , because of the [Fear] .

' I need martial arts or something . And I need to learn how to properly use a scythe . ' He thought as his punch smashed through a drake's head and passed through the other side . ' This method is extremely inefficient .'

He kept on punching , when surround by a number of drakes and when not , he jumped almost to the roof of the ' Train ' and kicked down at the Drake , which had a higher chance at killing them with one strike .

He roared as he once again punched at another Drake just a meter away for him .

' Technique , might be one of the reasons I lose to captain .' He remembered his fight with Gerald , where he almost died . He pouted as he increased the strength behind his punches . ' Unless I break it completely , it will survive . Unless I break through it's heart , it will survive . Unless I break through it's brain it will survive . ' He thought through all the fights till now and came to a conclusion ' I just need to target it's torso or it's head .' He smiled evilly as he broke through another drake's head .

Leah , on the other hand had an almost smooth sailing experience .

' Shout out the name of the spell to make your imagination sharper .'

She remembered a line from the 'Tome' she had read as shouted out " Freezing water ." as she launched a ball of water that hit a monster and slowly froze it completely .

' When imagining ice , imagine it colder and harder . When breaking ice , imagine it brittle . It will heed all your commands , because you are it's creator .'

She remembered another line as she touched the statue made of ice and simply flicked it with her right hands finger . The statue first shook and then slowly , from the point she flicked it , cracks appeared across the whole statue and it cracked , into many small pieces of ice that scattered into the air as they turned into water once more .

By the time the fist statue shattered , Leah had already left 2 more behind it and with a ' Clink' sound she killed these weak drakes as if she was breaking glass .

' I will not let him catch up , neither will go too fast , and leave him behind .' she thought as she shouted a new spell " Water control " as all the blood in a drake's body came out of it's mouth and it struggled , only for about a second before dying ' I need to be cold blooded if I want to be with him , she thought as she looked at the blood ' because if he hasn't noticed , I have . His path is filled with blood , and a lot of it .'

At this moment , she had a Stern face and her hand pointed at monsters one by one as she imagined spells , much more fierce than any torture .
