Death's Scythe Chapter 32: [Spar]

In an empty field , in Biruce . This field is usually used for military training , but Gerald brought Leo and Leah here because when he sent a man to deliver the documents about the reservation of the dungeon , Leo told him he wanted to fight his captain .

Leah was sitting on a raised platform a fair distance away from the two men standing at a distance of 5 meters from each other .

" Do you think you can actually defeat me ?" He looked at leo as he opened his wings which looked like those of an eagle .

" No , but I will know something about how I can do that ." He said as he looked straight into his eyes " And I need to stabilize my magic anyways . My magic keeps leaking again and again ."

Gerald knew Leo was lying . He knew that he had stabilized the mana inside him . He knew the side effects of learning from the tomes , because he himself had learnt from it . He looked behind Leo at Leah who was playing with water between her hands . It was not actually playing , though . To stabilize the Mana which transforms into magic after absorbing the Tome , you need to release and absorb it over and over , till it turns into pure Mana inside your body .

Leo didn't need to do much , because the magic was directly combined with his gift and stabilized .

" As you say ." Gerald looked at him and smiled and said " Get ready . Try to cause any permanent damage . Healing type gifts are extremely rare . "

Leo nodded and closed his eyes .

His hands which were in his pockets to this point , came out and turned into claws . His wings appeared from his back and floated behind him as he lifted his right hand to his chest and formed a fist .

" I attack first ?" He said to which Gerald simply nodded .

His feet kicked the ground as he accelerated towards Gerald and formed a punch behind his back .

Bzzzzzt

The sound of electricity cackled as his hand shined with a bright black and arcs of lighting stretched across his body starting from his hand .

After coming close to Gerald leo punched out , but some force blocked his punch Midway and even pushed him back .

' Wind ?' He stopped himself by punching his other claw into the ground , but he was confused . ' The wings ... They increase his affinity to wind magic .'

When he squinted his eyes to look at Gerald they shined with a deep golden light as he saw even the barest of Mana in the air .

' He has too much Mana compressed in him ... those wings , however , just have Mana revolving around them .'

" I give up ." Leo stood back up as he shouted .

Gerald looked at him in shock , but then realized the issue " So you found out , huh ."

Leo nodded , then looked around and then back at Gerald and said " Your wings , they make any Mana coming from a source weaker than yours revolve around them . No one weaker than you can harm you , but even by just standing near someone weak with your wings open will cause them to suffer ."

Gerald looked at him , then nodded but then leo said one more sentence " All the collected Mana will then be used for defense in the form of a wall of wind ."

Gerald's expression finally changed . He looked at Leo in shock . Everyone who saw his wings could know they were for defense , but no one had been this precise before . Gerald was the strongest in group fights as long as there was at least one person weaker than him .

The reason , only he knew . But now it seems there was 1 more .

" How do you do this ?" Gerald asked .

Leo looked at him and shook his head " Aren't people supposed to keep gifts secret ?" and said innocently .

The corners of Gerald's mouth twitched ' Don't you know about my gift ? Why are you acting so bashful when I ask of yours ?'

" And anyways , I am running from an empire . It's best if I hide most of my strengths ." He said as he looked back at Leah " You have done me a huge favor this time . I have never seen other magic , so I guess those tomes must be extremely powerful ."

Gerald looked at him and nodded " They are almost as good as supreme tier ."

Leo was once again confused by this . " Almost ?" in his mind , being able to change magic into whatever form you want was clearly supreme tier .

Gerald raised his hand and waved it around once , and Leo saw all the atmospheric Mana around Gerald focus onto his hand , and a small tornado appeared around his hand . " Using it according to imagination , Mana can become anything , even real objects . But , there are many other tomes which have stronger magic which can be supreme tier , even at 10% of their full strength . "

Leo nodded as he seemed to understand " And it is hard to imagine , or even provide Mana for such strong spells ?"

Gerald nodded and looked back at him " You have the potential to be a warrior and she has the biggest potential to be a mage . Why don't the both of you join our country ?"

Leo's eyes widened and he looked down at his feet as if he was thinking . Then he looked back up with a smile , shook his head and said " I'd rather keep moving then stay at one spot to create trouble for others . " Then he slightly looked back at Leah who had water floating around her like a shield " And it is more fun to run away with her , anyway ."

Gerald nodded and looked at him and smiled evilly " Is it my turn yet ?"

Leo shivered as he saw the look in his eyes . He once more remembered what they were doing here . " Are we just exchanging moves one by one ?"

Gerald's smile widened as he nodded " One yours , then one mine . Remember to keep me alive for my next moves and I'll do the same ."

Leo shivered once more " The hell with this ! You just wanna beat me up ."
