Death's Scythe Chapter 27: [ Tome Of Lightning ]

" Did you hear that ?" Leah said as she threw away the book in her hands .

Leo had been going on for about 13 hours , and Leah had been accompanying him as he read theory of electricity to build a basic foundation .

" No . What was it ?" Leo looked at her with her frown and then looked back down and said " Don't disturb me . This is the last one ."

Leah looked at him for some time before she nodded and went back to reading her book .' That was electricity . As far as I know , all this is things he should already know .'

She looked at him once more ' From what he said , it seems he never had any education . Whatever he knows , he learnt on his own . '

She shook her head and went back to reading her book . ' Still , it would be better if I did not have to read so many books .' She sighed and turned the page ' I need to learn about water , then water magic , and after that , ice .'

She shook her head and went back to her book ' Now's not the time .'

' That was electricity .' He looked into the book and tried his best not to change his expression . ' I just created electricity . Won't it be a huge discovery on Earth ." Man makes electricity by reading a book . Infinite source of power found ." Wouldn't that be on the front page ?' He thought as he imagined his face on the front page .

But a second later his mind went blank ' Who am I kidding . It was just a spark . Just the amount of flames I create are enough for everything . The amount I use for 1 monster can probably be used forever if used properly .'

' This should be the last one .' He thought as he put down the book on the table .

Then he looked over to Leah and said " I am done with these . What next ?"

Leah looked up at him and sighed " Now , real magic . "

She stood up , walked to a cupboard in one corner , opened it and took out a single book from inside .

Leo looked at it as if he was about to faint , but Leah said " This is the ' Tome of Lightning .' Well , a copy at least . Captain said to still keep it safe . This is the only one you get . You will understand more about lightning magic once you read this ."

Leah put the book in front of him and brought over a glass with water and put it in front of him . " Drink some water , at least . You haven't eaten for a long time ."

Leo readily chugged the glass and looked at her and said " You ?"

" Mana keeps my hunger under check ." she said as she went back to her spot with another book she took out from the cupboard .

Leo nodded and looked at the book in front of him .

It had no designs , or anything . It's cover was a deep purple in color and simple said 3 words ' Tome of Lightning '

Leo opened the 'tome' and looked at the first page .

The first thing he saw was the word ' INTRODUCTION ' in capital , and cursive letters .

Right under it , the actual book started with the words :

' Magic can be whatever I want . All I need is Mana .'

Even if the king had given up the rule of the throne of the dungeon country , he had just risen in power .

He had become someone , who controlled the actual face of the country . The prime minister was directly under his control , so even if , for the satisfaction of the citizens the king had given up the country , kingship had not .

The king was like a president , in the sense that he was at the top even if he was not in front . He controlled from the top , and sent someone else to be at the front lines .

The dungeon country was a country just on the surface , but a monarchy in the shadows .

Only the top brass of the country knew this fact and this top brass included Gerald , the captain of the Hero Intelligence Network , and a Supreme tier hero with the alias ' Eagle '.

He was currently kneeling in front of a throne in a room which could be called grand , at the very least .

The king didn't seem to have a care in the world and seemed to be doing this only because of a formality . Nevertheless , he still seemed overpowering as he said " Why am I here for such a thing ? He could report it directly to me . Why is there the requirement of a gathering ?"

The man who seemed to be wearing clothes even better than the king himself came forward and said " Gerald made copies of three of our tomes and distributed them to some commoners . Everyone here knows how powerful the tomes are . Although , they only contain knowledge , they contain knowledge of the most powerful magic . One that comes out of one's imagination . The commoners I described are even members of the Grimm imperial family and heroes of the Heroes Association ."

Various nobles started talking amongst themselves as they heard what was just said .

The King's eyes opened wide on the realization of the real problem " You have any excuses ? Or do you plead guilty for treason ?"

As soon as those words left his mouth the nobles all went quiet . The punishment for treason was death and if they got rid of someone in a position of power like Gerald , who never did anything illegal , they would be able to put their pawns in his place .

Gerald sneered as his head slightly looked back at the nobles . The voice was almost inaudible , but still reached the King's ears but he decided to overlook it .

Gerald kept looking down as he said " I did indeed take copies of 3 tomes and give them to the people described by Sir prime minister ."

There was once more the sound of chattering but the king hit one of the armrests of his throne to make an explosive sound . " Silence ." he said and after making sure everyone was silent he said " Continue ." as he looked at Gerald .

Gerald continued as if nothing had happened " They are indeed the prince and princess of Grimm empire , but are currently on the run . They are the princess of flames and her brother ."

Everyone was once again shocked . The princess of flames . She was the princess who had a gift in the only place where women could not have gifts . A strong one at that . As soon as she was discovered , she escaped with her brother , but without him noticing , took down half of the rest of the imperial family with her ability to control any and every flame .

Gerald continued as he looked up " They have no trust in the association and the empire is hunting them . If they are shown any sincerity at this time , they will be easy to bring to our side as they have nowhere else left to go ."

The king looked at him and laughed before he said " What use is a pair of useless heroes . The prince doesn't even have a gift , now , does he ?"

Leo shook his head and said as he looked down again " The prince , Leo Grimm , who goes by the name of Leo , has the gift in the name of a mythical being . The princess on the other hand , seems to be related to pixies ."

The king seemed surprised as he heard this . He looked at him and said " Explain how you know this and what their gifts are ."

Gerald stood up and disappeared from everyone's sights . The prime minister wanted to call for the guards , but the king stopped him by showing his hand .

A few minutes later Gerald came back and stood in the same place . " I would show you this , but , as you know , we are to always keep secrets safe . Even the royal family is not exempt from this . " He said as he showed him a file .

The king nodded and waved his hand .

Gerald opened the file and started reading . He continued reading everything about the pair , from start to end . From when they were first seen to whatever they did till getting here . Their progress in a mere week and their strength , which was exemplary for their tiers .

In the end he said in an excited tone " The rest is up to you . Whether to lose such treasures , or polish them ."

The whole room was silent . Only the sound of his excited breathing could be heard .
