Darkness

Darkness

At first glance, only an endless void composed of the densest and coldest darkness can be seen. But if we delve into this void, we will see that among the solitary darkness, there are hundreds of thousands of human bodies falling endlessly towards the deepest of abysses.

The only sounds that can be heard are the cries of agony and suffering that are uttered incessantly by those who have lost their sanity to the abyss.

"How long has it been, years, decades? No... much more." Among the thousands of human bodies falling without any destination, one of them stood out, since, unlike its companions, even after falling for a thousand years, it still held onto what remained of its sanity in some way.

This special human body belonged to a man who was now ancient and emaciated in physical composition, with even some of his bones visible. Moreover, he also had eyes as black as the abyss itself and long white hair. Finally, in his most striking feature, this ancient man wore what appeared to be a torn and faded hospital gown.

"What did I do so wrong to be thrown into this hell?" was the question the man asked himself every damn day, but as usual, he never found the answer.

This man did not remember much about himself or his past, but he remembered a specific event. Even after a thousand years had passed, he still remembered his last vision before falling into the void where he now found himself. In other words, he remembered that cursed creature.

That cursed crow that tore out his heart and gleefully threw the man to fall eternally into the endless darkness. Every minute in that void, the man remembered that creature, and every time he remembered it, an immense hatred filled his body.

He hated that creature with all his might, to the point where his greatest entertainment in that void was imagining torturing that creature in every possible way. In those thousand years, he had already thought of thousands of ways to end the crow's life, separating them between the least and most painful in the hope of one day being able to use them outside of his thoughts.

Although somewhat contradictory, the only thing that still kept him sane in this endless abyss was this immense hatred he felt for the creature that put him there; without it, the man would have succumbed to madness long ago.

"When I get out of here, I'm going to make you pay, you son of a bitch," thought the man, remembering who brought him to the void he had inhabited for so long.

"- HAHAHA, yes, yes, I'm going to kill you, you asshole," the man scream to himself.

"- Even if I have to climb the very depths of hell, I will find you and wipe that damn smile off your face, you son of a bitch!" The man shouted, losing himself in his own fury as he pointed his middle finger upwards.

"- Laugh while you can, you cursed crow, because when I find you, I'm going to rip every limb from your body and leave you bleeding to death in that desert, HAHAHA!" Lost in his deepest thoughts, the man did not notice a small but immensely important change.

In the cold darkness, for the first time in a thousand years, a small beam of light appeared and began to warm that cold environment. It was almost imperceptible, but it meant that finally, after falling for so long, those unfortunate humans were reaching somewhere.

In a few seconds, the beam began to increase dramatically as if a hole were being made in the darkness, which finally caught our protagonist's attention.

"Is this light? Wait, how is there light here?!" The man was impressed and emotional, and he started to tear up at the sight of something he hadn't seen in so long.

"It's more beautiful than I remembered..." The now elderly man spoke softly, tears streaming down his face.

"This warmth...it really feels different on my skin," the man thought happily, feeling a warmth that he almost couldn't remember.

But before he could reflect further on the experience, in the blink of an eye, his surroundings changed completely. What was once an endless darkness was now a red and black sky with an infinite number of bodies falling towards what looked like a place very similar to Earth, but unlike it, this new landscape was covered in oceans of lava, immense mountain ranges, and volcanoes that never stopped exploding, releasing smoke incessantly.

Additionally, this place had an arid ground with warm colors, tending towards red and black, explosions occurred everywhere and could be heard even miles above the ground. Screams and macabre sounds could be heard from all sides, making the scene increasingly strange and sinister.

"Holy sh*t!" Among the screaming bodies was that of a familiar man, who, even though he didn't understand what was happening and was somewhat scared of falling from the sky into a place he had never seen before, still carried the happiest smile, having finally escaped the cold and lonely darkness that surrounded him for so many decades.
