[Online Gaming] Love You 59 Seconds Chapter 29

Proofreader: Jesse

Title Explanation: Shimei - a female who is younger than you and shares the same teacher. In Japanese, we call them kouhai {for both male and female}, in modern Chinese we call them underclassmen. I don't think there is a specific way to identify them in English (United States English, because I'm not sure about British English). We tend to call everyone "my schoolmate" or "my classmate" because in the States a classroom is usually mixed with all grade levels; for example: Science and Math classes. Except for classes like English (for non-ESL students) and Social Science like history, politics and economics; everyone in the classroom will be in the same grade ^^ I think I have explained this a bit too much here LOL so I will stop but I think everyone gets the point ^^ So I will keep this form "Shimei"; so I hope everyone remembers this term from now on ^^

Wu Han Ying felt he must have really bad luck today, since he already gave the keychain back to its owner and he really could not burst into the classroom now. So he quietly carried his backpack with his laptop inside and ran back to the convenience store to re-buy water to carry upstairs.

Even though it was the afternoon, in the shaded area of the dorm one couldn't see any light since the winter season was not over yet, nature's gloomy curtain was still hanging over the sky. Wu Han Ying pushed the door, but it was locked; he had to stomp on the door while shouting loudly.

After entering the dorm room he couldn't help but immediately notice the stark contrast between how clean Professor Xia's room was and their room....which is no better than a garbage station.

After he had evenly distributed the water bottles, he remembered to walk over to the back of the door to look at the schedule.

"Who the heck put this schedule here!" Wu Han Ying immediately wanted to murder someone; this was not their class schedule for this semester, it was obviously the schedule for last semester. It was almost at the end of the new term; why the heck is the old schedule still up here?

{Translator Note: A bit of explanation, you must be wondering, he has this class for the whole term, how the hell he doesn't remember the room number? Well, he did mention in the previous chapter that rarely anyone coming to Professor Liu's lecture, because it is boring and the professor doesn't care about the number of students attending his class. So it's just normal for Wu Han Ying to rarely come to that class so he would not remember exactly the room number. Some people have the habit to put the time they have class and the room number, they don't really put down the professor name. So that's why we have this scenario. ^^ Remember, the author who wrote this story, she based everything on a student's habit, and each person has different experience. In order for me to understand this part of the story, I asked my friend and he explained this to me, that's why I find this makes sense ^^}

"The schedule dropped to the floor, pick it up and glue it back on." Jiang Tan said without even taking a glance at him since his fingers were busy clicking away on the mouse. Even though the internet was still out of commission he could play the games that were installed on his laptop.

Wu Han Ying rolled his eyes and then looked for a glue stick to violently paste the new schedule on. He was thinking about the bag of water he forgot in Professor Xia's room...he really wanted to skip the professor's class tomorrow! Really embarrassing.

The school internet was still off the rest of the afternoon and throughout the night. Wu Han Ying made good use of this time to finish almost all the leftover work he had due by the end of the semester. Most of it was to write 2,000-word essays, he looked up the material online and then organized it. Once he was finished he found that it did not take up too much of his time.

{Translator Input: I know you all are asking the same thing since they don't have internet in the dorm; how can Wu Han Ying still be able to look stuff up using the internet? Well, remember the one that isn't working is the wifi router, meaning it is impossible for them to connect to the internet through wifi; but if they are to connect to the the internet using one of the two ethernet cables they can still connect to the internet. Just that the speed is slower, because the wifi internet and ethernet cable use two different modems in the school, like you might get wifi connection from the modem 1 with fast internet, while the ethernet cable is from modem 2 is with slower internet. I have that set up at home, so I can understand this much, because my wifi connection is from a faster modem, while my niece and nephew are using slower internet where they can only use it to search up books or information to read, not to play games. And also remember that, it's Monday in the story and Wu Han Ying said that they have weekly updates on Mondays, but the update patch is SUPER HEAVY, so slow internet would take FOREVER to download, maybe 2 days, so what's the point of playing the game anyway ^^ I hope this explains why it seems that there are contradictions in this part ^^}

At 8 o'clock with nothing to do, he put on his headphones to listen to music while reading a book. Every now and then he would look over at the laptop to see whether the wifi connection is on or not.

Many times he noticed the little wifi icon at the bottom right corner of the laptop was connected and he was able to open the Baidu page {equivalent to google page}! He thought the internet was back, but as he opened another page it did not load...

It kept on repeating that same process over and over, he even thought for awhile that he must have paralyzed the whole school's internet with his action? How else could he explain that he could open a page, it got disconnected and then a few minutes later it got connected again.

When it was sometime past 8 o'clock, his two other roommates crawled out of bed after a nap to find food. After eating, just like Jiang Tan, they also started to play their pre-installed computer games.

Wu Han Ying was listened to the click click sound of the mouse when it dawned on him, he had started to become like the others, he was becoming addicted to gaming...although he was just a game newbie. Now if he isn't playing the game in his free time, he really does not know what he should do.

He turned to read a few more paragraphs in his book, but he really could not stay still, so he looked over to the game Jiang Tan was playing. Wu Han Ying noticed that the graphics were quite different from TLBB, but the characters' visuals look really good. He glanced over to the name of the game "Qu Shui Liu Shang" {lit. translation: The Goblet of the Crooked River}

Jiang Tan said that it is also a multi-player online game, but when there is no internet connection one can play it offline to practice their fighting skills.

Wu Han Ying got the download client from his roommate since he was thinking of installing it on his laptop; at least he could use it to practice his gaming skills. After starting it he realized that the installation progress was going to take up 30 minutes. His laptop really did not cooperate, once he clicked on the EXE file to download, it did not buzz at all.

It was the same when he first downloaded the TLBB client...

Jiang Tan said that his laptop is way too old and easily breaks down. He told him that he should only install one game and delete TLBB, it was like telling him to give up on his life since he has not played it enough just yet.

After more than an hour had passed by, the installation program popped up on the screen. After that the installation process took another half an hour to finish.

Qu Shui Liu Shang is quite different from TLBB; TLBB is a 3D game played in 2D mode, while Qu Shui Liu Shang is a pure 3D game. He found out the operation of the two games is not the same, so he was having some difficulty getting used to the game; in the end, less than 2 minutes into the game he had completely given up on it. It is...very difficult to play.

{Translator Input: I do agree with him here. If you're a 2D game player in MMORPG, you will have some difficulty with playing the 3D game. First, the graphics are not the same. Second, it is the movement of the character in the 3D game that is much more complex than in the 2D game. Not to mention the POV camera in the 3D game changes views from a third party to the first party. To make it simple, a 2D game is like playing mario cart on the Wii, while a 3D game is like playing Call of Duty on the PS4.}

The next day, the school internet was finally back on, but there was no time for fun since their schedule was completely packed with 5 classes in the morning and three classes in the afternoon; the only time they had to play the game was at night. Moreover, the three classes in the morning were Professor Xia's lecture...

Once they got to the classroom, there weren't many seats left and since all four of them woke up late no one came to save their seats, so they had to fend for themselves.

Wu Han Ying was thinking about when Professor Xia would enter the room... he was wondering whether he should ask for permission to retrieve his stuff...

Even just by thinking about it, he already felt extremely embarrassed. To stop from thinking about it he simply placed his book on the table and used it as a pillow for his head while he tried to get some sleep. College students have one bad habit, they don't sleep at night and can't get up in the morning, what is the result? Students sleeping in class.

At the beginning, he just wanted to close his eyes for a few seconds, but then he got really sleepy and dozed off; he was slowly entering his wonderland when suddenly there was a "knock knock knock". It seemed like someone was knocking on the table and it sounded very loud and clear, as if it was right next to his ear.

Wu Han Ying was startled and almost jumped out of his seat, as he raised up his head to take a look an all-white color hit his vision, the first thing he saw was a white coat...pocket.

His vision slowly moved up and his eyes were met with the forever "emotionless" face, he suddenly stood up on reflex. Wu Han Ying realized that it was the knuckle of Xia Chen's finger that had tapped three times loudly next to his ear on the desk. He stood still and stared at the other man who was just as emotionless and quiet as ever. Suddenly, a loud "bang" resonated as his left hand placed a bag full of mineral water on the desk.

Wu Han Ying quickly reached out to catch the bag since it was so full that some water bottles inside almost fell out of the bag.

"You forgot about this yesterday."

Xia Chen placed the bag on the desk after saying that sentence, he then pushed up his glasses and turned back to the podium to prepare for the lecture.

Wu Han Ying looked at the big bag of water bottles on his desk as his facial muscles twitched...should he say "thank you teacher", or...was it better for him to drill up a hole and hide there.

His roommate sitting in front of him turned around and said with a laugh, "Hey buddy, when did you hire Professor Xia to be your coolie, not bad eh."

When he logged back into the game again it was 7 o'clock that night; the internet lag was very horrible at that hour due to so many people trying to get online. At the character page, he saw that Xiao Wu. is already at level 75.

As he entered the game, he noticed the guild channel was especially lively tonight. Wu Han Ying took a quick glance at it.

As he looked through the guild conversation, he was utterly shocked; the one talking nonstop now in the guild channel was called "Bing*Xue". Who just happened to be the same female Wudang that Xiao Wu. encountered at Wu Yi last time.

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: How come Shifu is still not on

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: Today I got kicked out while doing Tricyclic (Crying Expression) (Crying Expression)

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: Shifu, you should log in and take revenge for me

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: They kicked me out T-T

{Guild}[Xiao Wu.]: I'm here

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: My feelings are hurt

{Guild}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Sao Zi, you're on!!

{Guild}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Sao Zi Sao Zi! We thought you had disappeared forever

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: Xiao Wu Ge Ge~~~

Wu Han Ying saw Xiao Xiao Xiao sent a greeting to him, he was about to reply when he saw Bing Xue called him Xiao Wu Ge Ge followed by a string of wavy lines. He couldn't help but jump and his fingers missed their mark and almost typed in the wrong words.

{Guild}[Xiao Wu.]: My schools internet was disconnected; there was no way I could log on

{Guild}[Qian Qian Junzi]: Yo, little Bangzhu is on

{Guild}[Xiao Wu.]: (Smiling Expression)

{Guild}[Bing*Xue]: Xiao Wu Ge Ge, you ignored me (Crying Expression)

{Guild}[Xiao Wu.]: Ah, hello...

As Wu Han Ying sent that message over he immediately received a team invitation from Xiao Xiao Xiao, so he clicked accept.

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Sao Zi!!

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: ......

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Sao Zi, how come you let Lao Da to take in such a dislikable apprentice!!

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: ??

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Hmp, it's that Bing*Xue, she makes me sick

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: ......

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: 59 Seconds took her in as his apprentice?

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: ...Sao Zi, apprenticeships ends at level 45; how can she have a Shifu

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: She created a small account and then applied to be an apprentice; her accounts also got added into the guild

Apprenticeship ends at 45? Wu Han Ying looked at the screen and realized that he had long ended his apprenticeship.

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: ......

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: I'm getting so god damn irritated at her!!

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Damn it, I really don't care who Lao Da takes in as his apprentice

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: The one that has the right to say anything about who or what is Sao Zi

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: But effing it, when she has nothing to do, she would ask people in the guild to take her to do quests, to do tricyclic and to do 7 {chess}

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: I said that I'm busy sweeping Misty Peak Dungeon

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Mothereffing, she made a bunch of grievous expressions and then said aren't you 59 Seconds' friend? Why not help her level up

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Damn it, from now on I will forever dislike that chicken emoticon!

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Also, I have a Bang Bang Tang* {lollipop}

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Effing it, she kept on bothering me, as if I care

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Eff it, it's bounded*!!!! Give it to her my ass!!!

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Damn it, then she said I bully small accounts!!!!!

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: I effing cannot stand it!!

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: What is Bang Bang Tang?

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Sao Zi!!!

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: Focus on the main point here!!

{Translator Note:

Bang Bang Tang - it's a weapon that has the shape of a lollipop; you need 400 "Timeless Ice Pieces" to exchange for one lollipop. There are 3 colors: Red, Green and Blue

Bounded - Remember I talk about the items in this game listed into two categories of "unbounded" and "bounded"? So if the item has the word "bounded" it means that item can only be used by the player and cannot be traded among players. So Xiao Xiao Xiao's Bang Bang Tang is now bounded to her, so even if she wants to give it to Xiao Wu, there is no way she can do it because it is not tradable.}

{Whisper}[Love You 59 Seconds] said to you: You're on?

{Whisper}you said to [Love You 59 Seconds]: Um

{Whisper}[Love You 59 Seconds] said to you: In a team?

{Whisper}[Love You 59 Seconds] said to you: Leave, join mine

{Whisper}you said to [Love You 59 Seconds]: Xiao Xiao and I are talking, wait a minute

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: Uh, actually you should tell it to Love You 59 Seconds...

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: But Lao Da is not on!! But telling this to you is also the same (as telling Lao Da)!

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: He's on

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: He wants me to be on his team, I'm going to leave now

{Team}[Xiao Xiao Xiao~]: !!!He's playing dead!

Wu Han Ying read the last message Xiao Xiao sent over in their team chat and then he left the team, after that he requested to join Love You 59 Seconds' team.

{Team}[Love You 59 Seconds]: Xiao Xiao was looking for you? What did she say?

{Team}[Xiao Wu.]: Talking about Bang Bang Tang

{Team}[Love You 59 Seconds]: ......
